Visiting the range can be intimidating, especially if it’s your first time at an indoor range. Bill’s staff is 100% committed to making sure all who come feel welcomed. Here are some tips and policies to help keep you and others safe and ensure that your visit to the range is as enjoyable as possible!
Please observe all state laws regarding the legal transport of firearms: Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota
All firearms must be unloaded, and in a case/sleeve or container that fully covers the gun. Please allow range officers to inspect firearms if requested.
All ammo should be stored separate from the firearm. This means in a separate container or a separate pouch in your range bag. Please allow range officers to inspect ammo if requested. There are some ammo restrictions at Bill’s which mostly includes aluminum cased ammo, steel tip/steel core ammo, and bird shot/game loads.
If you have a carry permit you may carry a loaded gun when visiting Bill’s, however, drawing from the holster and shooting on the range is prohibited unless prior arrangements have been made with Bill’s management for special training.
Eye and ear protection is required at all times while using the range. If you have glasses for vision correction, these are acceptable eye protection. Acceptable ear protection includes rubber or silicone plugs or “over the ear” muffs. Foam ear plugs alone are not sufficient for the indoor range, however, if worn in addition to muffs, this is encouraged. If you do not own eye and ear protection Bill’s has these items available for purchase.
Wear closed toe shoes like boots or sneakers. Sandals and other open toed shoes are not allowed on the range. This is to protect from hot bullet casings. High heels and platform shoes should also be avoided since stable footing is very important while shooting.
Open collared shirts and low-cut tops should also be avoided for protection from hot bullet casings falling in your shirt.
A baseball cap with a front facing bill is not required but is recommended to help protect your face from hot shells.
A valid government picture ID is required for all firearm rentals. This includes foreign ID cards and passports as long as age and identity can be determined. Your ID will be held by the range officer while you are in use of the rental gun.
All ammo for rental guns must be purchased from Bill’s at the time of renting. Any ammo you bring to the range with you can be shot using your personal guns but not rental guns. This is to ensure that we 100% know the source of the ammo to avoid damage to our rentals.
Rental guns may be shared among several members of a single visiting group.
Machine gun rentals are available and must be booked 72 hours in advance. Call us if you want to shoot fully automatic machine guns!
All guns should stay in the case until you are at the shooting line. The shooting line is the table you are standing at while you are aiming at your target. This is a rule that is easy to forget in the moment, yet is very important. No gun should ever be taken out of the case until it is at the shooting line. Empty cases should be brought back to the shooting line to re-case guns while the gun is pointed downrange. Do not carry a gun away from the shooting line until it is back in a case. This is to avoid guns being accidentally pointed in anyone else’s direction. This can be a little confusing for first time visitors, so please ask your range officer if you need more help with this policy. Please watch our safety video for more info.
Always point your gun straight downrange towards your target. Avoid pointing at the ceiling, floor, and especially your neighbors in the range. Casing and uncasing guns at the shooting line only will help you avoid “flagging” or accidentally pointing a gun at, others in the range.
Keep your finger off the trigger and above the trigger guard until you are pointed at your target and ready to shoot. This will help you look more like a pro shooter and less like a Hollywood actor! Ask your range officer to demonstrate this if you are unsure.
Make sure your gun is unloaded with a clear chamber before you case it back up and exit the range. Ask for assistance if you need help with this as well.

Bring your own targets if you wish, however these must meet a professional standard, no homemade targets please.
We have seated positions available, let your range officer know if you would like to sit while shooting.
Sign our safety waiver before you arrive for convenience.
Wash your hands and blow your nose after you exit the range to avoid lead exposure. Our restrooms are stocked with de-lead hand soap.
Get yourself a membership to save money if you plan on visiting regularly.
